With 16 other trade associations, the EUTA expresses concerns on the extension of the withdrawal button to all distance contracts. The right framework to look at such a proposal would be the European Commission’s fitness check of the current EU consumer protection framework.
The EUTA also raised concerns on how prescriptive the Council’s provision is. Namely that it does not leave enough space for different types of contracts, services and business models. It adopts a one-size-fits-all approach which does not work in practice. More flexibility for businesses must be introduced to implement this provision in pragmatic ways.
