The European Tech Alliance (EUTA), representing leading European-founded and headquartered technology companies, has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding fair competition in digital markets. In a letter addressed to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Executive Vice Presidents, EUTA urged swift and decisive action to enforce the landmark Digital Markets Act (DMA).
EUTA highlighted the critical role of the DMA in ensuring a competitive and innovative digital ecosystem, calling on the Commission to conclude its ongoing investigations into major tech players, including Apple, Google, and Meta, without delay. The letter also emphasised the need for accountability, urging fines and other measures against companies breaching DMA obligations.
“Fair competition and compliance with EU rules are the cornerstones of Europe’s digital future”, the letter stated. By enforcing the DMA effectively, the Commission can create a level playing field where European businesses can innovate, attract investment, and thrive”.
EUTA reiterated its belief in the EU’s ability to lead the way in fostering a vibrant and diverse digital marketplace that benefits both European consumers and businesses.
