New President | Gianpiero Lotito appointed as President of EUTA for 2018/19

The European Tech Alliance is pleased to announce the appointment of Gianpiero Lotito, Founder and CEO of FacilityLive as its new president.

FacilityLive is Italy’s highest valued technology company and a European search platform developing next generation software for the organisation, management and searching of information. FacilityLive is also a founding member of EUTA.

As President, Gianpiero will represent the European Tech Alliance in high-level events, stakeholder meetings and in the media, leading the Alliance of European Tech scale-ups in assisting policymakers and fostering growth across Europe. In these tasks Gianpiero will work closely with Allegro’s Magdalena Piech, who was recently appointed as Chair of the EUTA.

Founded in 2015 under the auspices of the European Commission, the European Tech Alliance has been a valuable resource for European governments and EU institutions. The EUTA seeks to represent European tech voices across Europe, by sharing visions and raising with policymakers the practical issues which represent important barriers or opportunities to building Europe’s digital market, including attracting investment and expanding globally. It was also created with the intention of helping the technology sector scale up and create jobs. The members of the Alliance regularly meet with European Commissioners, leading government representatives and the most influential Members of the European Parliament and of National Parliaments. This engagement contributes to shaping the best policies for the completion of the Digital Single Market, including AI, Consumer Protection, Copyright, Data Flows sand Data Protection and many more.

The European Tech Alliance is comprised of tech scaleups that were born or built in Europe and represent a joint European identity. Today it counts 27 members from the 15 European countries: Allegro (Poland), BlaBlaCar (France), Booking.com (Netherlands), Brand24 (Poland), CodeForAll (Portugal), Criteo (France), Dreamstime (Romania), eMag (Romania), FacilityLive (Italy), Ilion Animation Studios (Spain), King (Sweden), Klarna (Sweden), LearnWorlds (UK), Meetic (France), MyTaxi (Germany), Prowly (Poland), Rovio (Finland), Sentiance (Belgium), Seznam (Czech Republic), Soundcloud (Germany), Spotahome (Spain), Spotify (Sweden), Supercell (Finland), Taxify (Estonia), TPSEngage (Romania), Transenter (Netherlands), Tresorit (Hungary).

Gianpiero is an innovative entrepreneur with an extensive career in pioneering digital technologies, and an adjunct Professor in Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Pavia. He has often been interviewed by global media outlets: such as BBC World News, CNBC Global, CNN, Daily Telegraph, France Info, HuffPost, Mediaset, POLITICO, RAI, SKY News, and Süddeutsche Zeitung. He was also recently invited as a special guest by Richard Quest for his CNN’s Quest means Business. Earlier this year he became the first Italian non-politician invited as a speaker at the United Nations in New York in more than 20 years, to speak at the International Day of Non-Violence.

Gianpiero Lotito, President of the European Tech Alliance states: “I am delighted to spend all my enthusiasm to represent the most innovative voices with a global vision that we have in Europe. After many years as a follower, Europe is back as a global magnet for innovative technology companies. Despite some political uncertainty, it remains clear that the European tech industry is a strong force and will become stronger in the years to come.”

“I look forward to contributing to steering Europe and the technology industry through the challenging times ahead. The technology sector will emerge stronger than ever.”

We would also like to thank Niklas Zennström of Atomico, and co-founder of Skype for his efforts as President of the European Tech Alliance since its creation in 2015. Over the past years, Niklas has helped to raise the profile of the European Tech Alliance while acting as a tireless champion for all European tech companies. With Niklas as our President, we have been a preeminent voice for European tech and we look forward to continuing our commitment to this cause with Gianpiero as our new President.

We very much look forward to entering 2019 with Gianpiero becoming the leading voice to champion the views of European tech.
