On 8 and 9 October, the European Tech Alliance (EUTA) led a delegation of European tech companies to Vilnius. We met Lithuanian officials ahead of the country’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, which runs from January to June 2027.
Representatives of Allegro, Bolt, Booking.com, Vinted, Wolt and Zalando joined the visit. Together we met Vice Minister of Economy and Innovation Darius Zailskas, the Ministry of Justice and Jekaterina Rojaka MP, Chair of the Seimas Committee on Economics and Innovation. We also met three regulators: the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority (VVTAT), the Competition Council and the Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT). The visit ended with Unicorns Lithuania, the voice of the country’s startup community.
We found strong common ground on simplification, a Single Market that lets companies scale, and faster uptake of AI. Today a European entrepreneur may have to deal with 177 authorities to scale across the Single Market. Lithuania already leads by example. It has a national target to cut administrative burden by 35% by 2027, and it joined the Member States that recently called for an ambitious EU simplification agenda.
EUTA will keep working with the Lithuanian authorities in the months ahead. We will offer practical input to Presidency events and Council discussions.
